Gita Chapter 1, sloka 44

Sloka transliteration- devanagari to english

utsannakuladharmAnAm manushyAnAm janArdana |

narake (a)niyatam vaso bhavateetyanususruma ||

Sloka word to word translation- Devanagari to English

j=n==d*n= ( janArdana)- Oh Janardana ! ; an=ux=uXuum= (anususruma)- (we have) heard ; zit=(iti)- this ; m=n=u{y==[==] (manushyAnAm)-(that) persons; ku:lQ=m==*[==] (kuladharmAnAm)- (whose) family traditions ; Wts=á ( utsanna)- (are thus) destroyed; B=v=it= (bhavati)- (are) doomed; v==s=😦vAsa:)- to live ; ain=y=t=] (aniyatam)- perpetually; n=rke: (narake)- in hell.

Sloka meaning;

Oh Janardana, we have heard this that , persons, whose family traditions are thus destroyed, are doomed to live perpetually in hell

This is Arjuna’s eighth observation. This is regarding the family members of those slain. He says they are doomed to fall into hell and to be there for long.

This sloka is from Sankaracharya’s Bhaja Govindam. ” Who drinks even a small quantity of the Bhagavad Gita, who drinks a small quantity of the water of river Ganga and who has done worship of Narayana (Murari),  with him , Yama, the Lord of  death, keeps no quarrel”
