Gita Dhyana Sloka 9
yambrahma varunendra rudra marutah: stunvati divyai: stavai:
vedai: sanga padakramopanishadai: gayanti yam samaga:
dhyanavasthita tatgatena manasa pasyanti yam yogino
yasyantam na vidhu sura suragana devaya tasmai nama:
word to word meaning:
namah: – prostrations(obeisances); tasmai- that; devaya-(to) the Lord
(Narayana)yam- ( whom); brahma- the Lord Brahma; varuna: Varuna deva;
indra- Indra; rudra- Lord Rudra; maruta:- (and)the maruta devata ;
stunvanti- pray ; divyai-(with) divine; stavai:- stutis(hymns); yam-
on whom; samaga:- the singers of samagana; gayanti- sing; vedai- the
vedas; sa- with; anga padakrama upanishadai:- angas, padakramas (and)
upanishads ; yam- whom; yogina:- yogis; pasyanti- perceive; manasa-
(with their) mind; gatena- surrendered;tat-(to)him; dhyana- in the
meditative; avasthita:- state; yasya- whose; antam- end; sura:- the
devas; asura gana- (and) asuras; vidhu- know; na- not;
Prostrations to that Lord Narayana whom the Lord Brahma,
Varunadeva,Indra , Lord Rudra and Maruta devas pray with divine hymns,
on whom the sama gana singers sing the vedas with their angas,
padakramas and upanishads, whom the yogis perceive with their minds
surrendered to him their meditative state; and whose end the devas and
asuras know not.
With this we come to the end of the Dhyana slokas. I urge you all to
memorize them so that your everyday parayana can start with these
slokas. I myself was saying one or two only. But after Parasuramanji
asked me to go through the entire set, I myself enjoyed it every word.
Now I have got them by heart and my parayana now starts with them only
for about ten days now. These were given by Sri Adi Sankaracharya.
From tomorrow we will analyze the Sloka 1 of Chapter 1.
